Q: Would you be able to tell me what gauge wire is best for wire wrapping. Like wrapping a top drilled bead to a thin chain (Chain gauge too?) to make a drop earring? Thanks

It sounds like you are in need of a head pin. You slide the bead onto the pin, and the head holds the bead in place. Cut off any excess wire and create a simple loop and close the loop around your chain.

When choosing a head pin, you will want to pick a gauge that fits in the hole of your bead. Wire is measured in gauge size, while bead holes are measured in mm (milimeters). A standard bead hole is .5mm, which is equal to 24 gauge.

For wire wrapping, the same standard applies, you will want to pick a wire with a gauge that fits through your bead hole.

Concerning chain gauge, that is more of a personal preference, but it might be best to pick a gauge that matches the gauge of your head pin and earring.
