Our Rose Gold Filled wire is 14/20. This means that 1/20th of the weight is 14 karat Gold. Remember the higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire. For reference, the standard gauge of Rose Gold Wire used to make earrings is 20 or 22 gauge. The terms “dead soft" and "half hard" are terms that refer to the stiffness of wire.
Half-Hard Wire - Some stiffness and retains its shape when bent. Ideal for earrings, clasps and hooks.
Dead Soft Wire - bends easily and will conform to almost any shape. Great for wire wrapping and making chain.
This 1/2-hard, 14/20 rose gold-filled round wire, the bread-&-butter of jewelry making, is ideal for creating jump rings, pendant bails, ear wires, loops and a myriad of components that embellish other findings as well as a wide variety of techniques.
20-gauge wire is a good all-purpose weight; it is useful for head pins, jump rings, cuff and wire bracelets, neck wires, ear wires, earring posts and rivets.
